Beer in Alto Adige has a long and partially forgotten tradition: it has been produced here for over 1000 years! Scattered throughout the region, there are eight craft breweries that have their own production facilities and beer pubs. Two of them are in the heart of the medieval town of Bolzano.

Itinerary

1. Tour starts

Meet your English speaking beer expert under the statue of Walther von der Vogelweide and enjoy a late afternoon stroll in the historical center of Bolzano and get to learn about the 1000 years old beer tradition of South Tyrol.

2. Authentic Food Tasting Experience

You will stop at three different locations in the historical center, all walking distance, where you will have the chance to taste a variety of beers (Pils, Weizen, Dunkel, Porter, Ipa..) with food parings. During this tour discover the beer scene of Bolzano and how it has been a vital element in South Tyrol culture and history. Your beer expert will tell you more about the craft beers and micro breweries in town and how to pair it with food.

3. Historical & Culture Experience

The beer tastings will be taking place in the oldest tavern in town (over 400 years old) home also to the only Biergarten in town, as well as in one of the oldest building of the historical center. You will also visit the beer pub owned by one of the most popular brewery nationwide and getting to know their history and products. While getting to the different locations, you will enjoy a stroll in what was once the medieval market town of Bolzano, founded in the XI century by the Bishop of Trento. Walking through narrow alleys and the medieval arches will bring you back in time!
