1

Tour starts

Meet your private guide under the Statue of Walther v. der Vogelweide or at your hotel lobby  and start your Hike and Lagrein Wine Tasting tour. The pleasant hike will start from the very heart of the historical center to the neighborhood of Gries, passing by the “New Bolzano”, the city that was built between the 20’s and 30’s. Your guide will point out the very distinctive architectural style connected to the time when the city was under the Fascism regime.
2

Historical and Cultural Experience

Arriving to Gries will make you wonder if your still in Bolzano! As a matter of fact, this neighborhood was annexed to the city limit only in 1925, and therefore it has retained its own character and vibe. Still today, local inhabitants like to think they are not from Bolzano! Find out why Gries is the best growing area for the indigenous grape of Lagrein, and the role of the Augustiner Monks in its production.
3

Panoramic view of Bolzano

You’ll reach the Guncina Promenade, one of the most beautiful of promenades. Built in 1892, was dedicated to the Archduke Heinrich Anton of Austria. It leads in serpentines up the slope past cactus and other plants like Magnolias, Japanese hemp palms, holm oaks and cork trees, agaves, yuccas. A real botanical heaven! Following the path, you’ll reach a local wine producer, where we will enjoy some Lagrein wine and a light lunch (cheese, Speck, cold cuts and bread) and soak in the beautiful view over the city of Bolzano.
