Leave the city behind and find yourself immerse in the beauty of unspoiled nature, of Colle-Kohlern, the local mountain above Bolzano, the green lung of the city. Embedded in green meadows you’ll find the hamlets of Bauernkohlern and Herrenkohlern with their two picturesque little churches. We reach the top with the first passenger cable car in the world, invented by innkeeper Josef Staffler from Bolzano, who ingeniously saw a great chance for tourism. Close to the top station there is an approximately 50-meter-high wooden observation tower from which you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and peaks as well as the Dolomites Mountains – Sciliar and Rosengarten. In a clear sky day you can also see South Tyrol’s highest peak, the Ortler. Together with your guide you choose the hiking trail that better suits your fit level and interest, there are many options to choose from! After the hike, we enjoy a picnic lunch relaxing on the green inviting meadows. Return by cable car.
