MORE INFO | This is an easy trek, where comfortable shoes and clothes are required. Walking time is about 2 hours and 30 minutes, with an approx. distance of 7 km and 140 mt altitude gain.

Itinerary

Meet your private guide under the Statue of Walther v. der Vogelweide or at your hotel lobby  and start your urban trekking that will lead you from the very heart of the historical center to the hill of St. Maddalena, famous for the production of the Schiava-Vernatsch wine, South Tyrol’s indigenous grape. While leaving the city behind, you’ll learn how wine has been a vital element for the city of Bolzano since the Middle Ages.

Following your guide, you will walk following the Talvera creek on the famous Talvera Promenade, playground for all the locals, thanks to its many sport facilities and lush green fields, the perfect location for family picnics. In the mean time enjoy along the way, the view of historical manors, castles while listening to the many stories your guide will share with you.

While your guide will explain you why this area of town has the perfect terroir for wine making, following the serpentine trail you’ll reach the village of St.Magdalena and visit a little church where there is the biggest fresco collection related to the Sacred Graal. *The inside visit of the church is subject to availability

After the visit, you’ll stop to a local winery for wine tasting and a light lunch. Learn about their wine making process and tradition. Following the lunch return to your hotel on foot, entering the historical center from a different point and end this circular excursion where you started.
